Alors qu'elle restent après l'heure de fermeture dans un magasin de lingerie pour y effectuer un inventaire, cinq femmes sont terrifiées par un maniaque. En raison de la tempête qui règne à l'extérieur, elles ne peuvent ni fuir, ni téléphoner pour appeler à l'aide. Leurs soupçons se portent alors vers Orville, le concierge du bâtiment.

Une comédie politique satirique et acide divisée en épisodes. Le film est co-réalisé par Mario Monicelli, Ettore Scola, Nanni Loy, Luigi Magni. Les épisodes dressent un portrait critique de la société italienne, décrivant les italiens comme des personnes paresseuses, désorganisées et incompétentes. La critique devient de plus en plus acerbe au fil des épisodes.

Guillaume « Dents longues » de Luigi Filippo D'Amico : Une chaîne de télévision organise un casting pour sélectionner le nouveau présentateur du journal télévisé. Bertone réussi tous les tests, mais sa denture chevaline pousse le jury à vouloir l'éliminer sans lui en révéler la cause. Bertone se révèle inébranlable.

Sous la forme de 20 sketches, Les monstres met en scène les « petites monstruosités » quotidiennes, les mesquineries et mensonges des stéréotypes italiens des années 1960. La charge critique de cette comédie italienne est assez forte et n’épargne rien ou personne, en particulier les institutions et pouvoirs comme le gouvernement (8), l’église (19), la justice (10) ou la télévision (18) à travers leurs représentants respectifs.

Alberto Nardi, homme d'affaires médiocre et dépensier, est marié à Elvira, issue d'une riche famille à la tête d'une fortune conséquente. Alors que les créanciers le harcèlent, son banquier accepte de lui prêter de l'argent uniquement si son épouse le garantit. Ernesto and Filippo, two high school teachers, couldn’t be more different: Filippo is a cheerful liberal who is constantly online. High school professor Guido is a hopeless romantic whose life falls apart after his girlfriend leaves him. Paolo, a former student of his, helps him in getting out of his depression for a better chance to become a PE teacher himself.

Dans cette satire inspirée de L’Inspecteur général de Nicolas Gogol et transportée dans l’Italie de l’époque fasciste, la visite (supposée) incognito d’un fonctionnaire fasciste romain dans une petite ville de campagne ébranle profondément la classe dirigeante et son manque d’intégrité.

Antonio (Totò), ancien acteur de variétés, garde sa fille dans un excellent internat en organisant de petites escroqueries avec son ami et collègue Felice (Taranto). De bonne humeur, l'inspecteur Malvasia (Calindri) le persécute. Lorsque leurs enfants respectifs sans méfiance tombent amoureux, les deux pères font la paix.
