This is a hand-painted film which has been photographically step-printed to achieve various effects of brief fades and fluidity-of-motion, and makes partial use of painted frames in repetition (for "close-up" of textures). The tone of the film is primarily dark blue, and the paint is composed (and rephotographed microscopically) to suggest galactic forms in a space of stars.

Une jeune femme cherche à retrouver l'être aimé, personnage mi-homme mi-dieu, mi-Chronos mi-joueur de baseball, dans le labyrinthe d'une forteresse imaginaire. Elle voit et traverse une série de métamorphoses : le visage de son amant fond, elle s'habille d'une robe faite de l'ombre d'une cloche et devient pissenlit, d'une main trouée surgissent des fourmis qui se muent en Français à deux roues, la rencontre de deux profils montés sur tortues engendre une ballerine qui relance la balle d'une étrange partie... De nombreux motifs — montres molles, déserts bordés de montagnes noires, personnages évidés, globes oculaires... — renvoient explicitement à l'univers de Dali.

A visual representation, in four parts, of one man's internalization of "The Divine Comedy." Hell is a series of multicolored brush strokes against a white background; the speed of the changing images varies. "Hell Spit Flexion," or springing out of Hell, is on smaller film stock, taking the center of the frame. Montages of color move rapidly with a star and the edge of a lighted moon briefly visible. Purgation is back to full frame; blurs of color occasionally slow down then freeze. From time to time, an image, such as a window or a face, is distinguishable for a moment. In "existence is song," colors swirl then flash in and out of view. Behind the vivid colors are momentary glimpses of volcanic activity.

Norman McLaren joue avec les lois de la persistance rétinienne dans une œuvre de pure imagination faisant penser tantôt à un feu d'artifice très nourri, puis ensuite à un dessin lent à se former et dont on ne perçoit que des touches rapides et éphémères. In Prague, a professorial puppet, with metal pincers for hands and an open book for a hat, takes a boy as a pupil. First, the professor empties fluff and toys from the child's head, leaving him without the top of his head for most of the film. The professor then teaches the lad about illusions and perspectives, the pursuit of an object through exploring a bank of drawers, divining an object, and the migration of forms. The child then brings out a box with a tarantula in it: the professor puts his "hands" into the box and describes what he feels. The boy receives a final lesson about animation and film making; then the professor gives him a brain and his own open-book hat.

An experimental film in which both sound and visuals were created entirely by Norman McLaren drawing directly upon the film with ordinary pen and ink. The main title is in eight languages. Rereleased with multilingual titles in 1949.

Tout en se servant de son quotidien pour alimenter ses histoires, entre la crasse et les marginaux qu’il fréquente, Michael trouve l’amour auprès de Carole, une femme Noire. Commence alors une relation qui ne sera pas du goût de tout le monde, à commencer par Angelo

In this powerful abstract film with a soundtrack of African drum music, Lye scratched "white ziggle-zag-splutter scratches" on to black leather, using a variety of tools from saw teeth to arrow heads. The first version of the film won a major award at the International Experimental Film Festival Held in Brussels in 1958 in association with the World's Fair. Stan Brakhage described the film as "an almost unbelievably immense masterpiece".

This short film visualizes potential human exploration of the Solar System through a sequence of digitally reconstructed environments based on real astronomical data and spacecraft imagery. Depicting locations such as Mars, the moons of Saturn and Jupiter, and other celestial bodies, it presents speculative human activity grounded in existing scientific ideas, accompanied by narration from Carl Sagan’s "Pale Blue Dot".

Le film suit un jeune homme qui évolue dans un état de rêve lucide dans lequel il participe à diverses conversations philosophiques avec les personnages qu’il rencontre. Le film ne repose pas sur une intrigue mais sur la succession de dialogues et de monologues. Il est une référence à la maxime de George Santayana « L'état d'éveil (waking life) est un rêve contrôlé ».

In stop-motion animation, a wardrobe moves through the countryside. It arrives in a house, a child's voice recites Lewis Carroll's "Jabberwocky," and various objects, such as toys and dolls, move about, disintegrate, and play out archetypal scenes. Like Carroll's verse, the images are at once familiar and unfamiliar. A child's play suit, hanging in the wardrobe, becomes the adventure's protagonist.

A collage of two-dimensional images of vegetation, each appearing only for a moment, sometimes as a single image, more often with other bits of stem, leaf, bud, or petal. Often we see only the outline of objects against a black background. Black and green are occasionally joined by fragments of orange or of white and blue. The objects in the frame don't move but they are quickly replaced by another collage, giving the feel of rapid motion. Each collage is crisp, its lines etched against the background of black and later of white. Whitman anyone, or Hieronymus Bosch? Although there is no soundtrack, the rapidity of changing images and colors suggests a riot.
